The Ahimsa Yoga and Music Festival provides guests with a festival setting within a nature sanctuary that presents a space to practice mindfulness & movement through workshops, concerts, Kirtan, & dance. Skilled yoga instructors from all over the country as well as regionally attend this event, ready to help attendees learn and grow.
The annual festival was founded in 2012 and has grown exponentially. The event varies in location but this year, the Ahimsa festival will take place at the Yo1 resort in Monticello, NY from October 22-24, 2021.
The Yo1 resort is a luxury wellness resort located in the Catskills. Zorda shared her excitement about being able to share the experiences of the Ahimsa festival with attendees at a venue as beautiful as Yo1. Approximately 3 hours from Saratoga Springs, Yo1 is the perfect getaway for a relaxing and enlightening weekend retreat. To learn more about this resort visit: https://www.yo1.com.
As a past attendee and now part owner, Zorda says she has always enjoyed her experiences with the festival and the ideology behind it. The word “ahimsa” represents non harming and non violence. The 3 day festival aims to help implement those ideas into every aspect of life whether that be how you treat yourself, others and the world. The event aims to help foster an idea of ahimsa.
“I knew the people involved were amazing and the festival is a service as well as an awesome experience I want to share with people” stated Zorda.
Kristen first began yoga as a hobby throughout her college years. Once relocating to the city of Saratoga her interest in the art developed. She began practicing at various studios in the area over the years. In 2014, she began training at her now studio, Yoga Mandali. Kristen became a teacher at the studio in 2015 and purchased the business in 2018.
This successful yoga studio has brought joy to many community members. Zorda wanted to continue spreading these ideas and assisting others with the practice. This year, when presented with the opportunity to work with the Ahimsa festival she knew it was a perfect step in the right direction.
As an attendee, Zorda enjoyed working alongside and speaking with vendors. As an official part owner she aims to continue sharing these positive experiences with others. She looks forward to being able to experience this event this Fall from a different perspective.
